For some, ATEX product testing is the fun part, but we know how stressful it can be! We approach testing with an attitude of “we break it to ensure our customers do not!”. Since all of the testing is in house using our calibrated ATEX testing laboratory, this cost is all part of the process – you do not pay for failures and rests – in fact, there is no cost to testing at all.
We take our ATEX testing process seriously and whilst we ultimately want all of our products/projects to pass, this must always be done in accordance with the corresponding standards.
We follow third party validated work instructions and use UKAS calibrated measurement tools to ensure that a complete Technical File is created for each device along with an assessment report.

ATEX Thermal conditioning
The ATEX 60079-0 requirements for non-metallic enclosure materials mandate a rigorous series of tests may need to be performed on the enclosure. Prior to implementing these tests, the device must have been subjected continuous thermal conditioning (temperature and humidity) for a minimum of 28 days.
CENEGEX operate four, fully automatic, computer controlled climatic chambers capable to temperature and humidity cycling from -30C to 90% rH.
Ingress Protection (IP) testing
If your product is destined for use outdoors or in environments where explosive dust maybe present then it must be tested and hold an Ingress Protection, or “IP” rating.
Ingress Protection (IP) testing
Our dust testing chamber is designed to test upto “IP6x” enabling continuous dust clouds for the 8 hour test duration specified by ATEX standards with calibrated vacuum and flow gauges to ensure the correct negative pressure is created within the test subject.
Impact testing
2, 4 and 7J Impact testing in accordance with EN60079-0.
Restricted breathing testing
Fully automatic, computer controlled restricted breathing test equipment in accordance with EN60079-15.
Temperature rise testing
Combining multi-point thermocouples and high-resolution thermal imaging ensures that all products tested.
FAQs
Yes, our lab is accredited under IECEx ODO24 with Eurofins E&E CML Ltd and as such we can offer complete IECEx certification for the projects we take on.
This is a common questions, for E.U. countries the ATEX Directive is Law meaning ATEX certified equipment is mandatory. Whilst the basic standards are harmonised, the application of the standards can be different, which is why we do offer IECEx certification via our ODO24 accreditation, the commercial model is slightly different than for ATEX even though the testing process is the same.
